Hauraki Gulf Fishing Report 16th August 2019

Finally we have had a respite in the weather and managed to sneak out over the last couple of days.

Yesterday we had the Daiwa New Zealand lads onboard filming their Kohga lures in action. We found plenty of willing customers in the form of modest snapper (as you’d hope with professionals on the rods!).

Today we found some larger fish and also a touch of variety with kingfish, john dory and gurnard to accompany the snapper. A quick softbait in the shallows at Little Barrier also netted a couple of nice ones. Not too shabby for the full moon and DB Export all round!
Gannet action is pretty slow at the moment but you don’t need it and anyway bird activity will pick up very soon – bring on spring!

Cheers

Nick
