Workup season has hit yet another gear with action concentrated throughout the Firth of Thames, west of the Noises, in the Tiri Channel, Whangapaoroa Bay and up to Kawau Island.
You can’t really miss at the moment, but some skill is required to snag the better fish. The bigger snapper seem to be holding in distinct areas so use your sounder to scope out the better marks – often away from the workups.
Kingfish are making their presence felt with the Daiwa Kohgas and Pirates accounting for a couple of nice ones on most trips. Regularly bringing your lure up and dropping back down will increase your greenback chances.
