Ahoy folks,
We’ve been out on the briney regularly over the last few weeks and have enjoyed some consistent action. Gannets and dolphins have been doing their thing both inshore and out wide.
Starting with closer to home, the workup action has been north of the David Rocks and also over towards Tiritiri Matangi. There’s also been some decent action around the top of the Firth of Thames. Long drifts with the Daiwa Kohgas have been paying dividends. The snapper aren’t massive but there are plenty of pannies to fill the bin and also the odd kingi, carrot and john dory to keep things interesting.
If you find a weather window the fishing over by Great Barrier has been on fire. Last time we ventured here we found gannets and dolphins smashing pilchards in the northern Craddock Channel area. It was shooting fish in a barrel type fishing, with big snapper and kingfish nailing anything sent into the depths.
On Monday while most of the fishing community was focusing on Tuna off the east coast a few of the boys took advantage of favourable conditions and headed out from pier 21 to target a Swordfish, the results speak for them selves.
Until next time.
