We specialise in full-day guided fishing trips hunting the work-ups and reefs around the Hauraki Gulf.
We understand the importance of looking after our fisheries and our boats follow the practices outlined below for our two key target species.
Snapper
When snapper fishing in depths over 30m we keep all clearly legal fish, as the latest research indicates snapper have a poor survival rate upon release from such depths. Our skippers can move spots or tie on different lures if you are close to your quota and want to target larger fish however once we meet the snapper quota we stop fishing. We do not use bait on our charters as this tends to catch smaller snapper in the Hauraki Gulf.
Kingfish
Kingfish are a hardier fish than snapper, and tagging studies have shown they have a high survival rate after release. Therefore, our skippers can keep putting you on the Kingfish for as long as your arms can handle ’em! We have a limit of one kingfish kept per person on board, and if sharks are taking kingfish from our lines we will move to a different reef immediately. We only use circle hooks for kingfish to prevent deep-hooking fish.
Our clients are encouraged to utilise the whole fish rather than simply the fillets, and we send many to the Legasea Kai Iki processing station at Westhaven.
FULL BOAT TRIPS (SIX ANGLERS)
Our experienced and energetic skippers, specialise in lure fishing and livebaiting, targeting mainly snapper and kingfish. We have a relaxed attitude but pride ourselves in finding big fish daily, and our techniques are easy to learn for beginners.
Fishing is great in the Hauraki Gulf year-round for both snapper and kingfish, and the guys will set a game plan according to the season, where the fish are biting and your requirements. All the latest fishing gear is provided, including high-spec Daiwa rod and reel sets, and best in class lures and terminal tackle.
Our vessels are fast and modern Extreme boats comfortably accommodating and fishing up to six people per trip. All boats have private flush toilets and protected cabins.

If you are after a multi-day fishing adventure, we offer all-inclusive, three day and five day trips linking with the lodges at Great Barrier Island. From this beautiful island, suburb snapper and kingfish fishing options are available in almost all weather conditions. Accomodation, catering and gear hire are included, so all your focus can be turned to the big ones.
As we tend to fish the outer areas of the Hauraki Gulf, weather conditions do affect some of our bookings. If you are still keen to head out in less than ideal conditions, our skippers can discuss a variety of options including softbaiting and livebaiting in the lee of our many islands, or cruising around the inner Gulf and stopping off for lunch and refreshments on Waiheke or Kawau Islands.
